I'd say yes. It will make it look better.

Matt, as much as I would like to sell you a set of ground effects. (I'm assuming you would buy them from me.) I say keep your car the way it is. I think it looks tough without them.

i'm got a friend with the exact same year trams am as you.. all he did was lower it t'll it almost touched the ground.. made the back end a bit higher and put on 60's series tires on craigers... and DAMN does it look mean.. sounds sweet too.. but.. 327's do that.. heh..
another guy i know with an 83 put ground effects on his.. and.. well.. the 84 one looks better.. (although.. the 84 is in a bit ruffer shape... needs a paint job badly).. but that fact adds caracter to it.. like it's been though some scraps and killed.. neways.. just my opinion.

Leave them off.
My 84 has factory GFX and I love them.
My 83 has no GFX (it looks just like yours).
I think the early T/A's w/o the GFX are unique, and I think they look just as good as the later model 3rdgens. T/A's w/ GFX are common, id say leave them off of your car. W/O the GFX the car has a more "Muscle car" look to it IMO.

Four TransAm's are not enough. Firebirds for all.

I think your car looks pretty good the way it is. I like the kind of 'aero' look it has with out the ground effects. I only like the ground effects on the 85+ T/A's. Whatever you decide, I'm sure it'll look good. I like you T/A by the way.

MattW,
I have an 83 TA and after looking at your pics and movie, it looks like you have the stock TA gfx for 82-84, but it is really hard to tell since you have the black around the bottom. If you still have 'em, leave 'em because I think it looks unique and great, BUT you should paint that black strip white. It will emphasize the bottom of the car, hence making it look lower instead of shadowed. I've included pics of the different years gfx to help you decide. ALSO I have included a two pics of my 83 TA (at its worst before the restoration and it is a terrible pic)which was painted with primer in one color. The one with your car also doesn't have gfx, but shows how much lower the car appears. The second has the gfx primed to match. I feel that the black stripe on our cars as well as formulas make the bottom look "empty" or too high off the ground unecessarily.

I'd say leave them off and invest the money in some 17's. Take a look at Qwktrip's(I think I spelled it right)car and you'll see you can have a bad ride without the ground effects. It would also make your car little more unique considering so many Firebirds and TA/s have them.
