Get a paint job?
I've heard that painting a different color over your car's factory color can hurt resale value but is this also talking about re-painting the same color?
Thanks.
Thanks.

Re: Get a paint job?
I believe that's only true if you don't paint the door jams and under the hood and is done well.
Painting it the same color shouldn't have any effect on value, as long as its the same type of paint (single stage, base/clear) unless you were just in a wreak and are trying to hide
poor body work.
It's my opinion as well though that a Rustoleum paint job decreases value, mostly because it's difficult to remove before a true repaint - same with rattle cans.

Re: Get a paint job?
If you are talking about a restoration to concours specs and the vehicle is worth that type of restore then any other color than original will decrease value. However for most of our cars a different color done properly as stated by TheEndofanEra it should not hurt the value. If you would be selling it yourself primarily to an individual as compared to a collector then the main concern is the how the car shows. Many individuals might not even be able to tell the difference between a rustoleum or spray can paint if done real well. However a real enthusiast would likely be able to tell a spray bomb paint job.
