My Car was Just Stolen

After quarrelling on the phone with Earl Scheib about getting my stripes redone, (I paid for them already, but they didn't want to do it), I told them I would call them back, so I could think what my options were. Interestingly enough, I hear the phone ring and Earl Scheib was on the caller ID. "Hello, this is the owner of Earl Scheib...We apologize to have to say this, but our facilities have been broken into and your car has been stolen." WHAT????? Are you joking? To keep this from getting locked (I don't know where else to post this) I thought I would put up some pictures of it just days before it was stolen. Hopefully it will turn up. It was a car I was very proud of...pretty good looking in my opinion and pretty fast in my opinion too.

Wow, you're hatin' it man. Were they responsible for your car and is their insurance going to pay you if it turns up trashed? Good luck with all that... .

If it turns up trashed, their insurance better pay for it. I had a cop come over to make the report. He told me usually cars turn up in a couple of days. He said "It isn't fast, is it"? I said, well sir, yes it is. "Faster than my cop car"? Well sir, yes it is. "Okay, well lets hope he doesn't know how to handle the power". Hmmmmm...

I am sorry to hear about your car. I live in the Austin area, so I will keep an eye out for it. I am also heading to El Paso for the Thanksgiving holidays and will keep an eye out there. I know the chances are slim, but you never know.

El Paso is always one of the top cities in stolen cars and trucks. You never know, they could have taken it there or down to the valley in Laredo.

Good Luck!!!

Actually, a friend of mine in Phoenix AZ, his 1987 Trans Am was stolen by this dip**** 17 year old kid, and he was out cruising it around thinking he was all bad *** when a cop spotted him, the kid decided to run, and was doing like 115 on the highway when he lost control and went off the road, the car rolled who knows how many times. The kid was thrown from the car and got really messed up.. the car was toast, they actually never found the right rear wheel/tire.

I hope you get the car back man, thieves **** me off.

I just got off the phone with my insurance guy and he was very non-chalant, then he asked which car it was that got stolen. I told him it was the blue and white IROC and he said WHAT???? YOUR HOTROD? THOSE SONS OF B*TCHES!!! It was kind of funny to see how upset he got. However, I just hope my car is either found soon and in the shape I sent it to the paint shop, or that I get fully reimbursed.

WHAT!!!! Car stolen? damn you were just about to change the stripes to. Tell you what if that sorry S.O.B. shows up here in Dallas I'll kick his a$$ and bring him to you front door for some more *** kicking.

Damn that sucks.....

Oh by the way I was just thinking of how easy it really is to break into a body shop and steal a car. My Dad has been in the busneiss for years and they just put the keys up on this peg board and go home. You can even see about 10 sets of keys in there if you look though the window. I think its time they start using safes. You know add up the price to all the cars in one body shop. You would think thats something that you just dont set out on a silver platter for a theif to come take a look at.

WooHoo! They found the car!!! The guy is now in jail, but I have yet to see it. I promise you, I will be going over the body with a fine toothed comb, and if I find anything wrong with it, a REAL paint shop will take care of it via Scheib's insurance!

You will not be such a good guy if you see this dude walking out of jail. Justice will seem like a hook to the face and a boot to the back of the head. Just wondering what would you do if you met this guy? If I were you I would scope out the jail cell to see if he if a afganastan. I would claim a terroist attack.

You obviously haven't wasted enough of your life watching cop shows. I have seen one that I can easily remember where they let the guy go and never said if they caught him again, but I'm sure that there was a few others. When being chased by the police go near elementary schools that is when they let off. So many things I learn from TV, just none of them useful.

dude im realy happy for you. you have to go get your car thurally checked out. *** knows how many burnouts that fool did in the thing, the good thing is he will be spending time *** bubba;s new friend. i have gotten chased for realy one time, i was racing my friend in a 87 formula and when we were about 60mph in a 35 zone the cop came out of nowhere, i shut off my lights and went to about 115mph, on a fairly straght road and my friend pulled over. the cops passed him and came after me but never caught up. they want back and my friend was still sitting there and they acutally gave him a warning because he stoped. we lied about my car and i was never caught. man talk about a rush

This makes me wish that modern technology would allow for a do it yourslef LOJAC type system.
Kind of like cheap Audiovox alarms, at least it would be something.
With all the GPS systems being readily available these days, I'd like to be able to log on to the internet and see just where my car is if it were stolen.

Tanner,
If you'd like, I will find you a good shop in your area that will take care of your stripes for you. I saw the thread, and almost had a heart attack. Hope the car is ok. Anyway, like I said I know some people, I'll find you a good quality shop that will take the insurance check. I whould be able to find one pretty quick. If you got my e-mail you have my cell. I'm leaving Wed. at noon, so I'll be driving past Spring around 3:40 to 4.

Glad to hear you got it back! Had me worried for a minute! I can't believe someone would steal such a high profile car, I mean, how many blue IROCs with white racing stripes are there running around your town?

When my '94 SC got stolen last year, my wife and I didn't think we would ever see it in one piece again, but the idiots who took it were driving it locally with our plates still on it! When the morons ran out of gas on the freeway, a state trooper ran the plates and arrested them!

man...this day never ends!!!!

I went about an hour away to pick up my car....they said I needed to pay 100 bux for it being towed...I told them to bill it to Scheib and they said they couldn't and I would need to be reimbursed by them...REDICULOUS!!! I gave them my card....then they said CASH. I had to drive an hour back w/out my car. But while I was up there, I inspected it in the dark, and found my whole 800 dollar sound system was gone and interior was messed up a bit (console, trunk area, etc). So, I have a good feeling that I'm getting all of my money back AND a new paint job from a GOOD paint shop. They are not touching my car again. Did I mention I will be getting a new sound system? To make things more interesting, it turns out that the OLD manager from Scheib called me from his home number and said he knows the guy that did it...from jail, this guy called the old manager and gave him MY NAME AND NUMBER!!! He said he got it from the cop's monitor. So basically, the old manager was pleading on his behalf for me to drop charges. He said the best thing for him is to get him off crack, because he's a crack addict. Sigh....

Anthony - I hate to say I may not be able to cruise with you, but while you are close to Cypress, please, by all means stop by! I wanna see you and your new tight ride.

Brandon - good luck on getting your car together. I can't wait to run em and cruise down 1960 together and kill some stangs

my UTA e-mail account just smoked some crack of it's own. Send me your # to my anthonym@ev1.net account and I'll give you a call when I get to to town. I'm gonna wash the car first, she needs a bath. Regardless of this guy being on crack, I would find out if not pressing charges will have any ill-affect on you getting FULLY reimbursed, meaning new stereo equipment, interior repairs, and a new paint job. Anyway, send me your # and I'll come up, sorry about your car man.. I'll see it again some other time. Later.

Hey 89IROCZZ4, I'm in the Houston area as well. Drop me a line when you get the car back and I'd enjoy seeing it in person. Ever been down near Humble?

Oh yeah, I got my old car painted at a great place that did great work. I had a problem and went back...they fixed it for free and never stopped apologizing.

When I get it fixed up like I want it, It is going to have an alarm, ignition kill, and LOJACK! I am not putting that much time, effort, and money into a car just so some lazy bastard who can't get his own ride can steal mine! Take them for everything you can get!!! It's time that they were sent a message...Everyone is SO concerned with their civil rights..whatever happened to the rights of the victims?!

In my humble opinion... I would NOT drop charges. If he is addicted to crack, maybe the courts will make him go into some kind of treatment or something. If you drop charges, he will do it to someone else. I heard that crack is some powerfull ****. And a slap on the wrist is NOT sufficient. You will be doing all of us a favor. No one seems to have any respect for anyone elses property anymore. My car was vandalized two times in the same week. I have also had my old firebird stolen with my system and it was all gone. just be greatfull that they caught him and he is now in the system. You will always know his name with alittle digging around. There is nothing worst than a faceless act of dishonesty.

If this guy is a crack addict and stole your car to pay for drugs, chances are pretty good he doesn't have anything to sue him for! Don't drop the charges though, make this ******* go to jail for stealing your car. Its the least he deserves!!! I HATE ****ing thieves!!!

The paint shops insurance should cover your car if it was taken from their property. I would sue them if they refuse to pay damages.

This really pisses me off.
My first urge when I found out someone stole my car would be to beat them half to death, twice
Once you get over that urge though, you need to put them away, for good
Worthless junkies don't deserve to live, let alone be out on the street, stealing something that someone has put all their hard work into, this stuff gets me heated.
This stuff is disgusting

I agree with the guys above. There must be a price to pay for doing such things. Being a crackhead does not justify any reason of theft. But pressing charges and spending sometime in jail might get him into rehab or make him think twice before he does it to one of our cars. I also think the Body Shop is responsible for the damages and theft of your car because it was on their lot when it was stolen. If they give you any **** just say two words "Judge Judy"! Lord knows I'd settle first!lol Good luck and keep us posted.

I would think that if you don't press charges the insurance co. will. They are going to see to it that he gets what he deserves if they cost him a bunch of money.

To keep this from getting locked (I don't know where else to post this) I thought I would put up some pictures of it just days before it was stolen. Hopefully it will turn up. It was a car I was very proud of...pretty good looking in my opinion and pretty fast in my opinion too.
