Would you trade??
Ive owned my IROC now for 4 years and its in MINT condition and fully loaded. I think the only option my car doesnt have is a rear window defrost lol!!
My car: 1988 IROC with 5.7 litre, auto and 114k original miles. Paint is near flawless, wheels are perfect, no rattles (hard to believe but true), t-tops dont leak...
Pics:

Would you trade for a 1999 Ford Mustang GT Convertible....136k miles, leather, auto. Paint, body, interior and top are all in perfect condition.
Pics:

So, Im basically trading for a newer car with more miles and of course something different. Thoughts?

No. Camaro is just as fast as that Mustang. Looks better, and you'll have more fun in it.

Nope keep what you have when you get some extra money take and add a few things to what you have not to many people have are cars especially when you can get close to a convertible feel with the t tops but still retain hard top coupe look now if it were a 03-04 cobra different story. good luck either way!

Re: Would you trade??
I'd keep the IROC. The Mustang GT is a fun car to drive, if it has a manual tranny. But as others have pointed out, they're not much to look at and they're plenty of them around. Looks like you have a nice IROC. If you traded it off, I think you'd be regretting it soon, and you'd have a hard time finding another one like it.

You have a beautiful Camaro and I say no don't do it ,but in the end its obviously your decision. Personally I could not see myself saying "Yeah, I used to be a Camaro Guy."

Re: Would you trade??
No third gens have more style in there looks and how they feel and drive then that other car, I think you would regret it with in a week or so after you did the trade,
Re: Would you trade??
HELL NO, NEVER IN MY LIFE WOULD I DO THAT!
Third gens are not only much cooler, but much better looking, more fun to drive, more tastefull, and more sought after and rarer cars then the later model mustang, i would never do such a thing
as for personal experience, iv traded to camaros of my own before and regretted it each time, thus why i bought back my IROC a year later after trading her lol

Re: Would you trade??
If you are thinking of being purely practical, the newer vehicle would be a better choice as a daily driver, more dependable and easier to get parts for. And the power top on the Mustang is a lot less work than T-tops to operate. I really enjoyed my 04 Mustang convertible. But car people never think about the practical. The IROC is a better looking car and will probably always be more valuable. Plus not everyone has one.
My suggestion- keep the Camaro, even if you have to put it in storage, and get a
2005 or newer Mustang, a much better looking car than the 1999 model.

Love the Camaro, no don't trade and the first thought I had when I seen your car was...what the heck is with the wheel well trim. At the end of the day you have to make the decision that you can sleep with. Good luck to you either way.

Don't even ask me !!!! It's (beneath) me to even think about it.... I have to say though that the owner of that mustang is pretty smart trying to get rid of it for a nicer car !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This has nothing to do with being practical. The IROC is my fun, summertime car which is exactly what the Mustang would be. I have a BMW that I use as a daily driver and also have a Tahoe and a sportbike.
You guys are really making this difficult!! Lol! I LOVE my IROC but was thinking something newer and different (Ive wanted a convertible for a while) would be fun. I live in Seattle and need to maximize any sun I can get (my t-tops are off all summertime).

Re: Would you trade??
My dad just bught a 98 GT. I had been considering selling my car and buying a 2000ish year Mustang. I am glad I didn't buy one. They are nice cars, however they don't have the cool factor of our Camaros, they feel "cheap" do to all the plastic, plus they arent much faster at all. I'm pretty sure my LB9 TPI would out run it, if not be neck and neck.
If I were you I wouldn't trade, your car is in better condition too. I say sell the Tahoe or sport bike and rebuild or just add bolt ons to your L98 and back it up with a T/56. I doubt you would consider selling or trading the Iroc after that.

Re: Would you trade??
No way in hell. I never liked the body style of that generation of Mustang. Your IROC has averaged 4500 miles a year on it, the mustang 9700 miles. While not high miles/year by any means the Mustang has been drive twice as much as the IROC. Twice the wear and tear.
Look, you've got a nice car, appreciate what you've got.

The more updates I see for this post in my email, the more I just want to slap ya and shake you out of this! You don't wanna be driving a girl's, car do you??? I don't know if that is a v6, but nothing pisses me off than a v6 Mustang vert. I see them all the time and the only attraction they get are the guys that really know what your driving and laugh. They are very annoying to see. Your camaro is beautiful and a head turner. Build it up and release it's full potential...then she will be on your mind more than your girlfriend/wife. Lol

You DO realize that you are on Thirdgen.org right? No one here is going to tell you to trade a nice IROC for a high miles SN95 Mustang.

That's exactly right, not going to get much encouragement to trade the IROC here. It's your call, do as you like. But I predict if you do the trade, you'll be wishing you had your IROC back before long.

Well Ive made my decision and Im keeping the IROC. I kept thinking about how I would feel watching it drive away and it felt like crap!! My daughter LOVES the IROC too...She loves to sit in it and listen to music and thats another factor I kind of forgot....In the end I know I can find another Mustang GT Convertible if thats what I want but for now Im going to hold onto the IROC.
Thanks again for all the input...I appreciate you guys helping me not make a huge mistake (and one I know I would have regretted).
