Engine bay AC parts firewall removal for paint
Hello all, I'm new to the site. I recently picked up a 1990 Iroc Convertible, 305, automatic as a project car. I currently got it running (it needed new injectors) and engine feels strong. It needs work.
Next week I plan on removing the engine and everything in the engine bay in order to take it to the body shop to have it painted , original blue. I'm ok with tools and have removed a tpi motor in the past from an 89 Iroc that I owned years ago. What I'm not so familiar with is on the removal of other items on the firewall. I think that the problem I will have the most problems with is the "AC stuff".
I'm looking for any suggestions/ insight to get this done without to many hangups. Also, I don't remember if I had to take off my tpi system in order to pull the engine out. Can I just remove the distributor and some pieces up front which will enable me to put a chain front/ rear and pull it?
In advance, thanks for any help/ suggestions.

For AC stuff you're suppose to get it discharged properly before removing. Some shops around here will vac the system then you just have to pay for the refill. Shadetree method is just purge it to the atmosphere which is not legal.
Biggest thing label everything! I mean everything and keep it all neatly organized. I spent 2-4 hours one time looking for the wiper motor bolt in a pile of bolts in the garage.... NOT FUN.

Mostly o rings. So easy to take apart. Heater box might be brittle due to heat from headers. I removed it all since I drive less than 7k miles a year. I just tossed all the stuff, you'll have to be more careful. Condenser in front of radiator was toughest connection for me. I ended up bending one of the tubes. Because connection nuts were stuck.
