Polished aluminum scratch

I was cleaning my polished aluminum rims and noticed a scratch in them. Do i need to put something on the scratch to prevent oxidation or wearing into the finish?

Re: Polished aluminum scratch

If they are uncoated polished aluminum the scratched part wouldn't be any more suseptible to oxidation than the rest of the aluminum, it is all exposed metal, but aluminum is naturally less prone to oxidation, just treat the scratched part like the rest of the wheel.

This is not entirely correct, but I won't go into it.

I would sand out the scratch and re-polish it. Depending on the size and depth of the scratch, it shouldn't take more than 30 mins.
