So, what the hell should I name the bird?
It's going to be a flat black drag car... So, just for fun, what should I call it? What did you guys name yours, if you did give it a calling card.

Sure did , it's name is Orangebird
If your building a serious racecar , It's gotta have a seriously simple yet effective name . Something not too gaudy or goofy , "The ultimate bringer of doom" or some such just sounds WAY too "Gwar" to slap on the fender of a no nonsense mustang eater .
Now , since your going for black , "Blackbird" works without being too "Mellinum Falcon" ish .....

Well, if you absolutely need to name your unit, well...ahh...err....ok
Almost all words in various languages begin with verbs - nouns are derivatives. Then you come up with prefixes and suffixes - so think of a root word verb. Will this be feminine, masculine, or neuter? Big Pharma is great at this name play! Being a bird, you don't want a budgie sounding word, more like raptor or bird of prey. Find a verb fitting that, and make it into a noun with proper gender.

It will be very serious when I'm done with it.
I want a wicked name. Something people are going to remember if I drag them on a track or the street.
Ahh, I guess I coulda figured that out
I like the approach. Just not sure how to run with it.

You have to play with endings. Like #4 Falk could be Falkor. That would be unique and combines a raptor and falcon
Hor or Horos is the well known Egyption god that has a man's muscular body with a Falcon head.
Many ways. Go forth grasshopper...

How about "THUNDER" .Its simple and people know what it means. But you need to have a KILLER sounding exhaust.
Silver or even red letters would stand out nice on flat black and would look good. IMO.
I like "The Bird" also as mentioned.
"Suicide Bird" even has a decent ring to it, and I've never heard it before......
How about "Mongoose" or just "Cobra Killer".

Re: So, what the hell should I name the bird?
You could go with "Black Betty". And have you own theme song.
Edit: For the theme song, make sure you go with the "Spiderbait" version

Suicide Bird? Really? That doesn't sound mean. Sounds like you've blown it's drivetrain several times. Don't go with that.

I want something mean. Gimmicky is fun, but just doesn't do it for me. My grandmas name is betty
Yeah, maybe suicide isn't the best. But how do I fit murder/homicide into the mix?

I still say "Black Betty". But.. then again I like the song. Plus your Grandma will think it is a tribute to her.

Well, it's a drag car, and most names for cars are usually based on female references, so how about Drag Queen, or DQ for short? And doesn't the real DQ have a logo that features big red lips?
Or if you like the idea of having a theme song, then with your own username being killer, there's Killer Queen, and you can rock the Queen classic as you approaching the line.

I once saw a IROC or something like that at a drag strip with drag radials and big letters across the rear window,
YEAH IT'S FAST
NO YOU CAN'T DRIVE IT
We ended up running at one point. I was expecting more from such a grandiose words.....
