Help!!!!

I just wet sanded my hood and it looks like sh$%. Is it supposed to look like that, and how do you know when you've sanded enough. I used 1000 grit sand paper

Axle/Gears: 4th Gen/3.42
Get the car in the sun and look for any fish eyes or small shiny specks on the hood. Wet sand the blemishes untill you have a completly dull finish. Be careful not to sand or buff through the clear. Ummm.....You do know you have to buff the hood to get the glossy finish back, right?

Yes i figured i had to buff it, but this is my first time doing this and it kinda freaked me out to see what the hood looks like.
