i'm still kicking!
well, it's been a hot minute since i've really posted anything about my car in this forum. I normally stay pretty burried in the drag racing section and figured i'd give a quick little update. the car has come a very long ways since the 305 days.
i cut out the 6 point roll bar in favor of a 10 point cage this past winter.

figured while i was there, i had some issues from an old repair in the passenger's side wheel tub, so out they came in favor of a mini tub

had some issues underneath. the floor was trying to buckle/crack, so sfc's got beefed up

10point done, all tucked as far out of the way as i could get it and it still be legal.

rewired the car too, as the factory harness had huge amounts of issues having been hacked up over the last 11 years. the entire car runs off this panel now:

also, out with the junky 4th gen dash that never fit right in favor of a 3rd gen bird dash, with only the necessaries of course.

interior came together pretty well.

and of course i race the crap out of it still

it went 9.97 last year in good air. things are looking promising for 9.8x or better in the same air (normally around november here).

What a great job. These cars all have a purpose to each of us, and what you have done is impressive to say the least. I just think it's great to pick up a issue of NHRA National Dragster and see more and more third gens hitting the track.

LOVE flying dog IPA's. haven't found one i didn't like yet. It's a stout little dude though. if you drink lighter beers it will knock you right on your keister.

Re: i'm still kicking!
That was just great!! On the third video I wonder if the orange Camaro red lighted or was your reaction a little slow, it looked like he took off quite a bit sooner. With the great video's you took, we can really see the workings of how things all come together. Thanks Matt.

Yes, nice videos! Thx for posting.
OffTopic: BTW, I sampled some Flying Dog. Been visiting my Dad this past week up in PA. I chose Double Dog flavor, which is my new favorite for special occasions only! A case in Philly 'burbs is $60! Gonna look for it when I get back to NC.

Re: i'm still kicking!
the 305 made a big stink back in the mid/late 2000's when i was running it. it pissed a LOT of people off, including a guy with a 377 with brodix heads that thought he was a big shot one night

Re: i'm still kicking!
i could write a book on the different things i tried, lol. i'd have to really sit and think to remember everything. thankfully most of it is documented here on TGO in the drag racing section, so if you search my name there you'll find a lot.
quick and dirty of the fastest combo:
.030" over 305 (310")
10.2:1
113 casting vette heads with mild pocket porting and smoothed exhaust side. also backcut the valves
Comp 280H cam
comp pro magnum rockers
holley street dominator intake, p/n 300-36
650 holley double pumper
hedman long tubes with dual 2.5" and an h-pipe. summit branded flowmaster knockoffs.
700r4
ATI 10" 4000 stall
3.73's
275/60/15 m/t et street radials
3020lb race weight
ran a 12.31 @ 108 and would daylight the front tires. it went racing almost every friday and would go tons of rounds. i also daily drove it. once on the hwy with the converter locked up, it would sip on the 93 octane to the tune of 22mpg and would regularly get 16mpg mixed! this was most fun per dollar spent probably. if i had known then what i know now, i'm confident it could go 11.90's.

Re: i'm still kicking!
How in the world did you get it to 3020 lbs? (I don't doubt it but that's over 600 lbs than my tank). That's ridiculously light.
What's the general rule? 200 lbs per 1/10th with cars in this power range? Or is it 2/10ths per 100?

100lbs = .1 seconds
attention to detail. it weighs less now, and has more safety equipment and heavier drivetrain

i keep up with Jim pretty well. I started a facebook page about 3 years ago now called the Mu11et Militia (replace 11 with ll) and most of us are on there. that page is very alive. good to see you're still around!
