Silver/Gray Valve Covers

Is it me or do the silver/gray valve covers tend to develop surface rust more easily than the black valve covers. I know since they are lighter, rust would show more easily than a darker color but rust is rust and would show regardless.

The reason I bring this up is because I am replacing the factory black valve covers on my car and put in on the drivers side one of the silver/gray one's I ordered. It didn't have surface rust before and now its all over the top. The original black ones on my car are fine.

My 89 had the silver, and when I took em off at 100k miles, they were a little grimey, but no rust.

Based on what I have seen, I would guess your silver set spent some time in a wetter, and possibly saltier environment.
