Polishing rims.....

Hey guys, I got an idea about polishing my old 15" stock rims on my 92 RS. So I looked on the tech article about it and it said that after you take the clear coat off you have to watch out for it because it can corrode now! Can you just spray some new clearcoat on them after you polish them? So then it can protect them from corrosion. Will this take away the shine at all? Thanks if any of you guys can help!!

I'm in the process of polishing my rims right now. From what I have read on this site, there are two routes to go. One is to leave the rims bare and do not clear coat-just keep them polished. The more professional way in my opinion-and what a few have done-is to get a professional 2-step clear coat applied at a body shop. I visited my local professional paint shop and they recommended the 2-step clear. The materials were about $60 to do it yourself. Also check the a page down this board-there is lots of info. Good Luck.
