I have a question for all the experienced guys. I hate doing one leg burn outs in my car. It just looks better with both tires spinning. Is it possible, if i get the differential locked, to go from about 3-4 MPH and hit the brakes but stay on the gas and get both tires spinning? Or will this just ruin my limited slip rear-end? I would love to get rid of it but i don't have the cash for a new rear-end. Sorry moderators if I'm in the wrong topic but it's all about looking good. Nothing is more intimidating than smoking the tires in front of someone you are about to race.

If it's working properly, limited slip will always spin both tires. Maybe you have an open rear?

Yes thats what I mean, my bad. I have an open rear....is it possible with an open rear? Guess I need to figure out what I have before I start asking questions about it.

When I was in high school, people would try anything to get both tires going. The one idea that worked for me was to put someone in the back-pass. seat. It may not work for everyone, but it did for me. Some people tried using tranny fluid on the drivers rear tire, and it worked at times. When I had my LeMans, I would make a wide left turn, and hammer it, this would usually always get the car to slide, but I couldn't hold it still.

It's possible to lay down 2 black strips with an open rear cause I've done it a few times. 99% of the time though you'll just leave 1 mark.

I used to do some 2 wheel burnouts back in the day, when I had a peg-leg rear. Try lowering the pressure to about 28 in the right rear and max out the left rear--but don't drive around like that all the time, it's probably not safe. Another way is to turn left as you burn out--but not too much, it will just switch sides. Keep in mind that when you do a one wheeled burnout, the wheel is spinning twice as fast as what the speedo says. It's also hell on the spider gears.

This is my first post on this board so pardon me if something is incorrect.

I use to have a '86 T/A with an open diff. in it. I usually couldn't get both tires to spin unless it was wet out and I'd snap the heck out of the throttle and just happen to break both back tires loose.

I know have a '96 T/A and with the limited slip diff. in that I have no problems getting both tires to spin.

One day I hope to maybe fix up a thirdgen so that's why I'm hanging around on this board now.
