I installed a stripe kit a few weeks ago, and am sure liking the car better with some color. It's a DX3 code stripe delete car, so I was mixed on putting stripes on it or not. So I decided to take it out tonight and try to get some good pics. Made a quick vid as well.....
car and stripes look great! how hard are they to get straight and lined up with other panels?
The stripes are super easy to line up......
For example, the rear piece of the front fender, door, and front quarter comes as one continuous piece. You have to cut the stripes at the gaps. The front part of the fenders is also one continuous piece that wraps around to the grille. The rear part of the quarters is also one continuous piece that wraps halfway around the rear bumper. Ya just have to cut the stripes where the bumpers meet the fenders and quarters. The most important thing to use is a decal application spray so you can move them around if needed, and you can get rid of ALL the bubbles
Car looked great before but maybe just had that “missing something” feel. Especially if you have no idea it was supposed to come without decals. The decals look really sharp.
As nice as it looks now, it looks just like every other IROC. The DX3 makes it stand out to me, and any IROC enthusiast would realize it's a stripe delete car.
We owned a black '87 DX3 car, and didn't know what it was at the time, but I really liked the look of it. It looked clean and no-one confused it with the other trims, since they had their own distinctive pkgs.
Everyone has their own opinion, and if you like it, that's all that matters.
Car looks flawless... Nice video too, not too long, to the point...
I appreciate the DX3 but I’ve said it before... I
look at my car a lot and I have to be enjoying it 100%... If the decals will increase your happiness, do it...
I think it’s cool you get to say it’s a stripe delete car and then get into conversations about where you got the stripes, how you get them on, etc... It’s just more car talk you get to do...
If you ever sell (don’t do it!) I’d be surprised if the next owner would remove them... It looks freakin sweet!
