Updating an 82 Z28 to a 92 Z28

Hey guys ,

I totally love the look of the 91/92 Z28s. If I was to change the bumpers , ground effects , the hood ....would it fit on my car??? Would I have to do cuting , dilling , and what not. Also I was looking at the nextgen catalog for the bumpers ..... whats the difference between the aftermarket bumpers and the GM ones???Thanks

After you do all that work, with the spoiler, the gfx, the hood.... it might come out cheaper just to buy 91-92

Yes it would work. The front and rear bumpers are a direct bolt on.The rocker panel gfx will need new holes drilled onto the car.The way I see it its better to get the GM parts rather than the cheaper stuff,They tend not to fit right unlike the GM parts.Oh and my sig shows what I've done to my 85 SC,the gfx are taken off though. Also to this date I've only spent 400.00 for all my ground effects and the bumpers.

IONS is deffinetly right, if u do all the wrk to own a "conversion" 91z u might end up buying one for cheaper and possibly getting a SD TPI 350 car or a G92 Lb9 5 spd car.........n e way u get the idea. If thats what u want clean it up a bit and off it come spring, these cars sell like drugs in the ghetto come spring time

Hey Andy, your website in your sig isn't working. I agree with the aftermarket vs. GM bumper talk above. We put an aftermarket bumper on mine during the last paintjob, and it was a pain in the a** to make work right. It came out fine in the end, and you can't tell its not original just by looking, but making it work took more work than it should have.

I am changing my 82z28 to a 92 rs. I bought a donor car cheap.

front bumper has different crash padding to fit the newer cover, the back is the same. Had to drill new holes for the wing on the rear quarter panels, and drill new holes for the ground effects in front of the rear tires.

I'm pretty certain that the '82-'84 crashpad will fit and work just fine with the new bumper. Since you have a newer style one from a donor, use it. But I wouldn't go out and buy one without test fitting the nose first to make certain (unless you can get them to throw it in for free when you get the bumper).
