Help, Taillight touch up

Hello,
I have a 92 z28 Vert. The taillights have overspray on them. I started to remove it with paint thinner and I rubbed off the black paint. I am going to touch up the black paint, does anyone have any suggestions on the paint type and prep? Any info would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Ozzie

Re: Help, Taillight touch up

I bought a set of tailights that had a bunch of over spray on them cheap. Bought a headlight polishing kit to use on them and it worked great. Looked better than new

Some buffing compound and a cotton buff should work great. .....as for paint, I've had great success over the years with SEM trim paints in a can. I always have a can of satin on hand. Mightwant a gloss for tails though.

Re: Help, Taillight touch up

You can always wet sand with 2000grit very lightly and then polish/buff with any metal polish.
I used this method on my c3 taillights the set on the very left were all wet sanded 2000 grit then polished then I wiped as much of polish off and clear coated with eastwood diamond clear.
the set on the right which I was not going to use was my practice set and only the bottom left out of the four was sanded and cleared.
