Touch up paint

Tommorow I'm doing touch up paint on my car. It's a metallic silver formula and the paint is pretty rough on the front end, and there's a big spot where the last owner but a piece of blown out semi tire. Anyway, I wanted to see if you guys had any tips. I bought 1000 and 2000 grit sandpaper and rubbing compound and I have two bottles of factory touch-up paint. Is there anything special to getting the paint to adhere to the plastic on the nose? How big of a spot can I do? Is there a good way that I can do my mirrors? I know I can't do it with a brush. BTW, this is all being done in preperation of selling it, so I don't want to spend too much. thanks

Any help here? I was planning on doing the touch up paint in about an hour. I read the tech article, I was just looking for some info specific to the plastic.
