Thought some of you here might get a kick out of this, so I thought I'd start a little restore thread.. miss the old build/restore threads..
Friend of mine gave me this car, it had been sitting outside for some time and was not driving, but would run.
We went and picked it up, don't mind my obsessive sag with a rear-leveled truck.. I'm since leveled the front 2" and put factory springs in the rear, so when towing it just levels out.. but, not in these pics. lol
Got it off the trailer, got a battery in it and got some lights on, I was also able to check out all of the interior goodness. Lots going on in there. lol
I started by cleaning up the interior, the seats weren't as bad as they could have been.. but I tossed some covers on them anyways.
I ended up getting side tracked with other projects and put the car into storage for the winter, tucked with some good company.
While in storage, I pulled the hood, started working through some engine bay clean up and addressed some little things that I could do while working other projects.
The hood is currently off, bumper is going to follow to get some prep and paint attention. The rest of the car can use some detailing attention, but I will be focusing on rust next.
There are some rust concerns, but the trailing arm mounts are solid, despite being rusty. This rust will be addressed to make the car safe.
More to come on this thing, I want to make it a reliable driver, survivor.
Some videos that I've done on this car, if anyone is interested..
I love those! I used to (maybe still do) have the service manual supplement for one. Nice to see one being saved. Looks like an '80s showroom sitting next to your third gen.
My first reliable car was a 1996 Grand Prix SE. I really liked that car. Had over 250,000 on it when I sold it. Had to replace the intake manifold gaskets twice but other than that the 3.1 engine was pretty much trouble free.
Nice! I just found an `89 TGP from New Jersey I`m working on as well, I`d love to have that TGP level tech in an F-body!
IIRC you`re posting over on W-body.com too. I`m following there as well.
Oh awesome! Any pics of yours? I'm posting on some of the wbody pages on Facebook, I haven't been on w-body.com in a while, I might have to check it out!

Can't really beat the comfort of the late 90's, early 00's w-bodys. My first was an 04 Monte Carlo, I think I put 170k on it, it needed a power steering pump and that was it.. I was mean to that car. lol

That's pretty neat! No I don't have one of those yet, would you want to sell it?

Ive not been on facebook in a long time, I did post there when the site went down a few weeks ago but I much prefer the forums like this one. My W-body.com TGP thread has more pics but heres the 1st pic of the TGP being delivered.
Definitely grab that Turbo supplement manual as well as the FSM for the `89 GP. Ebay had them both for about $60.
