Polishing the runners ?!?!?

Ive already ported the penum, polished it up, and am getting ready to do the runners, do i follow the same proceedures, i mean the metal looks pretty smooth already, how long did it take you guys to do yours? any helpful hints ? Looks like ill probbably have to do mostly painstaking hand sanding on this one, i dont think the dremmel will save me this time..... bummer. Any advice ?

Took my wifes cleaner stuff called "The Works" that she buys at the dollar store. Shined my runners up almost like new, i couldn't believe it.

You talking about polishing the outside or the inside? The outside on mine have huge cast marks. More than the plenum.

Dremel will cause it to be wavy.

Use some stuff called Blue Magic.. I havn't done the runners.. but I have polished lots of other AL parts... Try wet sanding.. or a gasket remover pad on an angle grinder... if it is real rough.. start with an orbital sander... its lots of work.. :lala: but its sure worth it when U are finished...

I polished a set for Bimma86 a while back, ask him how sweet they look . it was really hard to get nearly all nocks and crannies to polish with a die grinder and used my da sander to get the runner tubes polished up.When doing the runner tube dont sand too much aluminum off or the tube will collaspe.I did this on a few sets before I learned how to get things right,so get some j/y runner and test first before you do the real thing.
