HELP!! wiper blades scratching my windshield

HELP!!!! I need wiper blades that wont scratch my windshield. I replaced the windshield and put new blades on and today I heard a squeak with the wipers on and there was a 3'' scratch. Please reccomend a brand that wont scratch

Are you sure there wasn't anything stuck on the blade, I would think a rubber blade shouldn't scratch.

Well, I don't have an immediate solution except that you should make sure your new blades are long enough and that there is no metal peice touching the glass.

I will present to you the science behind glass and how you can scratch it. Regular steel will not scratch glass by itself, you could go out and take a steel nail to your windsheild all day and it wouldn't scratch the glass. The only time steel will scratch glass is when the glass is wet (takes some time though)... kinda when you'd use the wipers eh? Rubber will never scratch glass nor will plastic. So, If you are indeed getting a scratch after just a couple whipes, it probably isn't because of the wiper blade, it's most likely a rock or something hard like that... granite and quartz... and just about any rock out there will scratch glass. This is all based on the hardness of these minerals that are involved.

My info on this subject is 100% solid...

BTW don't try the steel nail thing on the windsheild, because there are higher grade carbon steels that will cut your glass up quite well.
