DO they make clear turnsignals for firebirds. I'm talking about the ones on the front that are between the hideaway lights

 

NO, but I am currently working on the project on some spare turn signals. I'll try to post pics when I am done in a few weeks (not a priority right now).

 

I just coverted mine over. I had to cut the front housing off our signals at the seam. I got some clear front singnals off a 80s sedan. I just snagged them one day without really any thought involved. They mounted in the front bumper of the car. They mounted from the back. Man, I can't remember what it was.

Anyway. I trimmed them ever so slightly and they sat flush with the front trim piece of our signals. Then I used a dremal to cut out the amber lens from the old signals.

Once the two were together, the clear was recessed, but it still looks cool. I am having computer issues, so I can't scan the "in progess" pics, but I do have an after shot. You can sort of tell. I need to get a closer shot. I also converted my headlights so they don't pop up anymore.

Redraif, did you use a rear spoiler turned upside down on the front spoiler on your car? That is the most riced out firebird I have ever seen. You tinted the cover to your gauges, how do you read them? The fuse box label is horribly tacky. Those rims are awful, and the tires are something I would expect on a civic. Your taillights are hideous. The red tint is almost as moronic as it is illegal. And Knight Rider lights ont he front? Why? Is this KITT goes to hell? That is one of the most *** awful thirdgens I have ever seen. The only thing I cannot degrade is your engine bay, it actually looks pretty good. Its too bad you drive with the hood shut. And the exhaust, I dont have words for it.

 

Adam, are you always such a judgemental pr*ck? Redraif's car is different (I have seen it at shows), but last time I checked that was a good thing. I guess she could have stuck with a plain vanilla paint scheme and a dated wheel design that you see in half the ads in GMHTP, but that would be boring. What is wrong with the tailghts? Most people that don't know third gens think they're stock, and they look far cleaner to me than the original unpainted lenses. The red tint is pretty bold, but again, its up to the owner to do what pleases THEM, not what pleases some a$$wipe with a chip on his shoulder. People remember this car, and it has won at several shows, so she must be doing something right. Its funny that you label her car rice, too...with those godawful fog lights, a non-functional hood, and slow ETs you have as much in common with rice as she does, only yours would be plain white rice...bland, boring, and forgettable. Do everyone on this board a favor and get your head out of your a$$. This isn't the place to berate anyone's efforts...lets see how you like it when the criticism is directed at you. Yeah, that is a rear spoiler on the underside of my ground effects. I have one in the rear too. I always liked the base spoiler. I always thought it went with the car better. Using the same spoiler gave a nice symetry to the plain jane ground effects I had to settle on. The spoilers gave the effects a new current look. They are actually quite subtle and they go perfect with the 92 side Camaro effects.

Originally, I went all over to get something decent that did not look like a cheap rip off of Trans Am ground effects. All the decent sets were discontinued. And I really was not ready to throw money away on a whole new front and rear bumper cover when mine are fine. All I could find is the predator kit and the Kobel kit: thanks, but no thanks.

So I had to get a set of 1984 ground effects from a local yard and do some work on them. They were pretty beat up. (This was before 3rd gen resource, and Hawks were around. So you had to go with what you could get.)

And the tail lights, I painted them because $75.00 is alot better than the $125.00 it would have cost to replace the nasty faded center section I did have. The body shop tried to buff it back and it did not work. And I like the look better. I always hate how the black did not match. This is why I really wanted a black firebird. But this way, I got to use a nice looking emblem like my others that came from a 2nd gen. I hate those cheap vinyl stickers.

The dash is actually just light smoked plexi. You can see thru it very easily, both during the day and at night. The horrible dashs they gave to the 2.8s had to go. Circles for every idiot light, please. It did not go with the rest of the interior at all.

The tint. Well that is more for medical reasons. I have severe problems with migraines. So in my case it not moronic because it serves a medical purpose, nor is it illegal. I have a waiver from the state. I chose red because the red sunglasses I had, offered the best relief from my migraines in the sun. The fact that it matched my car was a fluke. Had the car been another color I would have gone with black or a light mirror. This is also why I have the front windshield vinyled. It is to reduce glare and direct sunlight in my eyes. It was this or never driving myself anywhere again.

The tires and rims, well thats just a matter of different tastes. I grew up wanting a 3rd gen. I have owned mine for almost 13 years. In that time I have seen enough of the stock rims, polished or not. I have also seen enough of the 5 spoke designs, 4th gen, vette wheels and the look-a-likes. Its has been done so much it is tired and predictable. I wanted something eye catchy and thats what they are. Oh, and the Scorchers... I got those tires before any of the local Civic boys even knew they existed. Its also a good performance tire, based on the BFG Comp TA.

As far as the exhaust, SLP offers a similar set up for SS Camaros as well as Saleen offering it as a option. So I don't see the issue there. I just didn't want one pipe on each side like every beat up work truck you see on the road. The way the pipes are routed had a major effect on the deepness of the sound(I can't explain why, but it did), which often leads people to think the car is a V8 (which it soon will be). Once the 383 goes together (Edelbrock heads, Miniram, etc), its going to have the power to back up the looks. If its fast, its not rice .

The KITT light... Well that's just the dork in me I guess. I always loved KITT and thought the scanner was his best feature. So I wanted it for my Bird. That's all the further I took it because I don't have the money or the desire to build a replica. Its just my way to honor the only 3rd gen with any notoriety.

That is a truly unique bird redraif and kudos for your creativity but i personally would never dishonor a thirgen with such tackyness as u did, but is ur ride and u can do what ever the hell u want. My problem with Adam isn't so much his opinion as the way he expressed it. Expressing opinions is one thing, being rude or offensive about it is something else. I personally don't care what you or anyone else likes/dislikes; that's not the point. The point is that you can express your opinion without being a jerk about it. As far as "dishonor"ing a Firebird, lighten up...its just a car. They made hundreds of thousands of them, its not like they're rare. If it was an 89 Turbo TA or a Firehawk, it would be different, but its a base model V6 bird. I for one think its cool that she has taken a car that would, in stock form, be nothing special and is making it into her vision of what it should be.

The foglights are identical to stock Trans Ams. You are now saying that all the foglights on trans am's are *** awful.

The hood is functional, "********."

My ET is a 14.0 @ 97.5 on a slippy transmission, bad rear end, and full street trim (that includes street tires, subs in the back, etc. completely street, no octane booster)

Thats fast enough to run with or beat LT1 cars. And fast enough to beat 90% of the ragged out thirdgens you find out on the street. I would hardly call a 14.0 a "slow ET", Mr. LT1.

If I were to express my opinion any differently, my conviction would be flawed. This is a free country, I did not degrade Shannon personally. I just described my thoughts about her car the way I actually feel about them, not a politically correct version.

 

A K&N stuck on the end of your throttle body, not sealed to the hood, isn't functional...it doesn't "ram" air into the engine, hence the non-functional comment...********!. In the same sense, the 98-up Ram Air isn't functional. It may help a little, but its not ram air. Gee, I didn't know about your other problems...you might have run a blistering 13.7 or so under better conditions . Call it what you want, a 14 second ET is slow. Just because you can blow off the local yahoos in their 82 Berlinettas with air shocks and Cragars doesn't mean you're fast. Sorry, in my opinion the foglights are ugly...yes, Pontiac has actually had some stock parts, and even whole cars, that were hideous. If you had said that you didn't like something in a tactful manner, I wouldn't have a problem with it...but there is no reason to be a jerk about it. That was my whole point.

Now, everybody is entitled to their opinion, and it is my opinion that that ****box makes me want to gouge my eyes out with a rusty nail, then pull them from their sockets and jump on them until I have a concoction that looks like, well I won't know what it looks like, because thankfully I WILL BE BLIND!

Some of the chunks of corn I find in my **** look better than that.

I also love the extensive list of mods that are nowhere to be seen in the pics of the car, even though we have half a page devoted to how to ruin your headlights. You'd think if any of those mods actually listed were done, there would be some mention of the time involved, but instead we have space devoted to "making your car look like ***** trash 101".

For example, these mods are nowhere to be found, or are complex enough that you would think there would be some mention if they existed outside of Aunt Ben's mind.

I'm so sorry I have posted a simple reply to a simple question.
Maverick wanted to know about front turn signals. This is what I replied to. What happened?

I did not ask to have my car rated by a bunch of obviously rude individuals. This is not the place for this type of discussion. If I posted a thread "hey tell me what you think of my car", it would be different. The problem with some people is that they can't simply say "I do not like this or that" Instead they use "moronic, hideous..." & "gouge my eyes out..."

Since the rant has gotten out of control I will defend myself. I hope this ends this crap...

The site is barely a week old and as I'm sure you noticed some of the files are extremely large. I don't have a good working scanner or digital camera. The gentleman who was originally helping me, is serving his country in Afghanistan. So the only pics I have are of a few recent mods that a friend so graciously scanned for me, but the files are too large. He has to tinker with his photo program, so I have to wait to post more till we get the sizes down.

That is why the pics are not up. I did not want to post too many large file jpegs and cause a problem with the site. And as far as text... The only time I have to work on the site is at work on my lunch break, so it is slow going. I wanted to have pics to explain as I went along, so hence only a list at the moment. I'm so sorry I have not explained everything in simple details for you.

Oh and the springs and such...I mentioned that I needed more pics to be scanned in. I have no pics yet of the lowered stance, so of course it does not look lowered in the pics.

But just for, you I will make a concerted effort to explain my mods in more detail ASAP.

As far as the fuse panel. I was adding simple touches of red to the interior. It seemed to be a logical choice. Oh well...

 

Hate to say it, but its riced up the wazoo.

BTW- 14 seconds is slow? This is a ****ing 3rd gen website, and no stock thirdgen ever ran faster than like 14.5. ( there are exceptions... IE. Firehawk.)

Just becasue I dont personaly like the spoilers on the bottom of her car, and would probably look better with out them, but I dont expect them to be taken off just casue I dont like them. I like the tint, it goes with the car. The rims arent THAT bad. The exhaust fukin rocks, definatley give ya credit for that!

I am a nice guy, if you know me better you would know that. I don't normally deride peoples cars. But in this case I made an exception. I stated my opinions on the car, I never took any pot shots at Shannon. I will agree that this thread was not the best thread for me to comment in, however it was the easiest available because shannon linked in pictures to her car. If I made a topic regarding it, it would have been locked before a reply could have been made.

I DO think a lot of what is on her car is ugly. How am I supposed to be nice about telling her I think that? Am I just not supposed to? Thats retarded. Shannon has been better about this than any of you, she is taking my opinions for what they are, opinions, and not making a big deal out of it. You guys calling me out for being out of line are being a little too self righteous. Let her fight her own battles; This thread would have died long ago.

Personally Shannon, I think your car looks great as is. I always wondered what black ground effects and a red car would look like (Zepher used to have a similar color scheme). If you can win shows with it, go for it.

Nobody's rice. Rice is a grain, sold in packs by the pound. We here are all human beings with incredible cars (the thirdgen f-bodies) who all have dreams and ambitions of what our cars should look like.
