corvette wheels, conflicting info

I'm thinking about getting the thick spoke C5 wheels. I have heard that people are using 2.5" spacers all around. On skultes site he says to use 2" all the way around. I calculated around 2" for the front and 1.5" in the rear. Did I make a mistake. Right now I have 4th gen wheels on my car with 2.25" spacers in the front and 1.25" in the rear. On skultes site he says to use 2" all the way around. I have had these wheels on my car for about 2 years with no problems. So my logic says the C5 wheels should fit with the spacers I have now, I might have to get a little bigger spacers in the rear. Please help me out with this. People with C5 wheels on their car post pics and tell me which spacers you have on your car. Thanks in advance.

if you want factory backspacing, which is the internal measurement, or as close as humanly possible, go with 2.5" all around.

To get exact factory backspacing, you'd need a 2.45" spacer in front and a 2.6" spacer in the back.

2.5" would be a negligible difference from both figures.

But that only accounts for factory backspacing, on the inside of the rim. Because the rims are wider than factory, the fronts are gonna protrude .5" out further than stock and the rears will protrude 1.5" out further. So you'd be close to a factory look externally if you went with 2" spacers all around from an external standpoint.

2.25 all around would probably be a reall good compromise between getting the backspacing numbers close while still keeping the wheels within the wheelwells.

As for your question:
With 2.25" in front and 1.25" in the back, that leaves you with
4.55" backspacing in front, which will work just fine. But the 6.35" backspacing in the rear might not cut it.

Which wheels do you have now? a 16x8 inch 4th gen wheel would make for an easy test.

A good way to test if it will work is pull off a back wheel and spacer. then try to bolt the wheel on without the spacer, and see if it will work and spin freely. Because that is the backspacing you're gonna be running within .15"

If i was in your shoes, i'd say pick up another set of 2.25's for the rear.

TheWraith,
Thank you very much for responding. As far as the wheels I have now they are 16X8" 4th gen wheels. I did test them to see the fit on the rear and they arent close without the spacers. So I guess I will be getting another set of spacers.
