Trip Tick removal.

hey guys. Was going to throw some white face gage overlays onto my '85 T/A, but when i got everything apart, i couldn't figure out how the damn trip reset needle comes off so you can get the clear plastic face plate free of the gages!! It doesn't just come off like the 86-92s... it looks as if you're supposed to use a screw driver--- is this correct? I tried but it didn't want to go, and i didn't want to try and force it not being sure exactly what's goin on.

Thanks

Did you try to just pull it straight out? Screw look might be just that--for looks.

Nope, like i said, i didn't want to try and force anything not knowing exactly how it works... did't want to pull to hard and break it! Is it supposed to pull right out????

On the 86-89 style it pulls right out. The pin is held in there by 2 small tangs.

Riight-- but this is a PRE- 1986 style... Anyone familiar with pulling the trip reset needle off these gages? It does not appear to simply pull or screw off.

Thanks
