Window Tint

Guys-

Anyone know approximately how much I'd cost to get my side windows tinted?

I've already got real dark tint on the back hatch, but I want it on the side windows too... my friend told me about $100 for both windows.

5% good enough? Anything more, and it becomes illegal right?

some places 5 too much and illegal. Just depends on the cop. 100 bucks is a good price though. I would do 20 on the windows...

5 is, I believe, referred to as limo tin, which is pretty illegal in most every place....the sides are the important windows for cops in the way of visibility, so...do you feel lucky?

Why yes... yes I do

I'll probably take my chances with the 5% tint.

It just makes the car look so much better... if a cop wants to pull me over, guess I'll just have to pay the fine...

Should I go to a shop or dealer to have it installed?

Meh..chances are you'll find a deal if you 'shop' (heh heh) around...if you get a decent quote, be sure to qrite it down with the place and their name..some places refuse to do illegal tint shades, whereas others don't care. Hmm.....5%.......mine isn't THAT dark, but I bet it'd look decent....

the sides shouldn't cost you more than 50-75 for both sides.

i had my sides, rear, and 6" band in the front all done in 5% and it looks sweet.

i had a more expensive film put on that supposedly lightens up at night to 20% on the sides; i do notice it changes some; but no where near 20.

i've had 20 on the rear and 35 on the sides.......35 removed it for 20 on the sides and decided i wanted it darker.

i've finally finished with the limo all around, but i highly recomend going with 20 on the sides if its your everyday car.

since i hardly drive the car at night it isn't a problem and if i do i know the area real well and just drive with the windows down. you cannot see very well at all at night.

it looks cool, but it isn't worth your safety when 20% is almost as close, just do 5 on the back and 20 on the sides.....you'll be happier.

here is a pick with the door open, 20 percent you would be able to somewhat see through the passenger window, notice the 5 you can't at all and this is a bright indoor place.......but it does look good.

here is a day shot to show how dark it is. the black trans am has 20% and it's quite a distance away.......notice how you can see some light! the only way to see in is to get right on it and then it's like looking at 20% from 10 feet away.

I got pulled over in my mini-truck (okay, it was in 1988) and had 35% on the sides. Well I was stationed in Kansas (legal tint there) and was in CA (no side tint laws) and the highway patrol made me take it off there. No fine, just remove it. That was a while ago and the cop let a car doing about 90 go just to pull over my lowered truck, so maybe he was just in a "mood".

5% one the door makes it really hard to see out at night or on rainy days when its dim out. I dont recommend it from exp. window tint is cool but not when it cause or almost causes and accident because you cant see. food for thought

Yep, it's no fun at night, especially if you have to back up in a parking lot, it's hard to see people, I know I can't see out the back so I just roll the window down and poke my head out.
