how rough can you be with a glass hood?

how rough can you be with a glass hood?

just wondering if you can shut them with a little force or if you have to be really gentle

i have a glass cowl induction hood. what i do it slowly let the hood down. then i lift the latch lever to seat the hood. then i just press down on the hood gentally until i hear it click.
