well i was at football practice and when i come out to my car afterwards, i find a blazer stuck to my door and front fender. i was like what the ****!!!?? then some dude comes up to me and is like sorry man i backed into your car. i was about to kill him. he was so scared that he was shaking when he was writing down all his insurance information and stuff. my real question is, his insurance is probably gonna have to total my car and let me buy it back and fix it. if i dont buy it back though and just take the money for the total, can i strip the car down before they take it away. like can i take off my exhaust and intake and carb and cd player and rims and stuff? anyone have experience with this?

did you drive it away? if it got towed go to place and get the stuff out of your car. It will probably sit at the shop till the insurance decideds something.

its still driveable. but the fender is all bent to hell and so is the door. i cant even open it enough to get in. my cars blue book is like 1500. i think its gonna cost more than that to fix it. any ideas on what to do? should i take all my stuff off of it and total it, or try and get them to pay for it?

I wouldn't be too pissed at him. He coulda just left, leaving you to pay the damage. At least he was honest and stuck around.

i'd take everything i wanted off of that, have the insurance agancy total it, take that money, get another Z, and put the old parts off ur old car in that....but thats just me

you dont have full coverage? If it comes down to it keep it and get it fixed at a body shop, don't know where you live but the mexican places are really cheap LOL

thanks for the replys guys. i called his insurance people today and they are supposed to come check it out in a couple of days. i think im gonna get it totaled, have them reimburse me for the new engine (i have receipts) and then take all my stuff of it like the intake/carb/dist/headers/rims/cd and put the original stuff back on. that should leave me with enough cash and parts to sell to buy another z or maybe a older car. i always loved novas. ill just have to wait and see what happens.
