I'm getting some rust under my car. Its starting to spred. I plan on taking it to a body shop to see if the car is worth painting or not. Does anyone have any pics of they're cars w/ rust on them.

How much is too much. I don't want to do the susp. stuff if the cars not going to last very long.

I can take some pictures of my rust with some car on it, oops I mean of my car with some rust. I will send them to you tommorow. It is mostly surface rust, and from what I have found in the Classic Industries catalog I can replace any body or floor panel on the car.

If you're in Virginia, I'd bet your car is nowhere near bad enogh to get worried about. A little surface rust isn't hurting anything. It's unavoidable. It's certainly better to nip it in the bud, but it doesn't really get toward the "point of no return" point until you start getting panels that you can start poking holes in. That's when it's too weak to maintain structural rigidity. You should see my sport coupe. You can see the underside of my carpet from under the car.

 

if u think little holes are bad i can fit my entire hand thru a hole in my floor board.

Take a look at Zero Rust as a means of treating what I understand you are finding on your undercarriage, including any and all components there: axles, springs, tranny, floor pans, inner fender wells, engine compartment, etc., etc.
Lots of DIYer's are finding our aerosols or bulk products an easy on the pocketbook, yet very effective means of fighting & maintaining the battle against rust.
Even if you aren't an experienced restorer, or for that matter, if you are, using ZR is not rocket science, doesn't take a modern, thoroughly equipped shop nor an air supplied respirator system to use (whether brushed, sprayed or rolled) and its forgiving nature as to the prep work required, gives it a leg up on most other products that probably will do the job, but at a considerably greater cost in terms of both money and prep work.
