keyless entry hatch release

I just ordered a keyless entry system that has a button to open the trunk. I just wanted to know what I am going to have to do to get this to work. I am putting it in my 91 and it doesn't have the button to release the hatch, you have to use the key. Will I be able to use the keyless entry hatch release with this or will I need a different pull down or what? I have an iroc that has the hatch release switch so I can use whatever parts that I want from it but I need to know what I am going to have to do.

Your 91 does NOT have a remote trunk release? It should have a button between the window switches. If not, you will have to wire it in from your parts car. I can tell you how to wire the keyless into it, just did it on my car. Thomas

You can add the standard solenoid to the hatch release. It is just one bolt to attach it. Wire it with a relay to the remote release and you are set to go. You don't need to add a switch unless you want to pop it manually from in the car as well. I added one to my 'vert (they come with a tonneau release instead of a hatch, or in my case trunk release). I put my switch inside the center console to keep it from prying eyes.

My 91 doesn't have power anything right now. So do I just need a solenoid and a relay. there is a relay directly under the switch, right? Is that what I need to wire in?

My 87 bird had power nothing. I added power windows and door locks. Later I wanted to pop the hatch from inside. I bought the factory button. When I removed the gauge panel I found that the wiring was already there for the switch. I plugged it up, but found out I had to add the signal wire once I did the truck release button worked fine. It already had the solenoid and relay back there. Maybe yours is the same.

From there, I had installed a door popper kit and it had an extra input. Its been a few years, but I believe I tapped into the signal wire from the switch and it gave me keyless trunk entry with my door popper remote.
