Bear with me if this whole post sounds slightly retarded i dont know much about cars. I know u have to use a manual 4th gen console even if u have an automatic car. My question is in an automatic car then how do u know what gear you are in?

 

I have a really easy and simple answer for you. Park is all the way up. then comes reverse, nuteral, the your over drive, drive, 2 then 1 if you got that. But all automatic cars the overdrive or drive is the 3rd click(it makes a click sound) down. You can also after backing up out of a spot just pull the shifter back if it is still stock and it will stop at the first drive.
