How much for new paint job?

Well, the Formy is white. NO rust, NO orange peel, NO dents, NO bruises. I want the Formy to be BLACK. Nothing special, just off the dealer lot STOCK quality. I know they gotta pull everything apart, but what am i looking at pricewise. Thanks guys.

It depends on where you go and how good of a shop you choose. To be frank, I too have a white '91 Formula, no rust or dents and the place I am taking it to will charge 2000.00 for a professional job, factory clean, smooth, and original. Guy does all his cars awsome, not cheap 300.00 jobs that have lumps and faded results in a year. Andy

As you are probably figuring out by now...
A shop needs around 50.00 bucks an hour to keep
an employee depending on the nature of the business
and location...

A skilled employee will rarely work for less than 20.00
an hour....

So if you have these guys spend their time on trivia
the price goes way up ...

You may have noticed that the most clever of folks around here
make a special effort to prep jobs as carefully as they can
and then hire the the best folks they can find to
perform skilled tasks or tasks that require special tooling.

So ....
For a "color change"
You can...
pull your interior
pull the fenders, bumper, hood,
Pull engine
remove undercoating
pull mouldings
perform "rough" sanding
order replacements
and deliver a shell that
only requires sealer
wet sanding
color and clear

This is still a lot of work
but you are having them
do what they are "skilled" at doing

You can reassemble yourself
