Help, quick!
Help, quick!
I'm trying to figure out if I'd be getting a good deal, all impu's welcome here....
I came across the ad in the Coastal Trader here last night, it reads as follows:
Chevy Z28 Camaro 1987. Car for parts. New front end, new hood, alloy wheels, 305 V8 AT, PDL, no motor. First $275 OBO takes. Westside ***-****
I figure, what the heck, ya know? So I call the guy up earlier today, to ask after the car. Turns out "New front end, new hood" really meant "NEEDS New front end, AND new hood" So I ask the guy about the rest of the body... He says it's in pretty good condition. Doors, good, back end-good. Well. The only things it doesn't have, that I need (Besides the new front bumper cover) is the 305 Engine (I miss my 8cyl
) and a Manual Tranny (I need to use my other foot
)
But other than that... I can use a different Rear bumper, and the doors. I can replace the front 1/4 panel I recently have taken a dent out of. And a few other things would be nice. And I figured everything else could be parted off online and such.
I set an appt. with the guy, around 3pm my time (EST) to go take a look at it. So far, it seems like a Win-Win situation, but I figured some more experienced opinions may help out. Besides, I might end up with some extras that one of you all could need.
So what's the verdict, give it a shot, or not.... As far as I know, he's only had one other person call about it. That guy should have been there and gone by now.... Price could have gone up....
I'm not made of money, but I can handle a few hundred... How high would it be worth it?
Help?
Please?

i dunno, seems like it would only be worth it if you ALREADY had all of the parts to fix it. have you priced a T5 manual lately? those puppies aren't all that cheap; hell, that's your "couple hundred" right there. and what about a decent running 305 or better yet 350? well, don't see those lying around for under a grand much do ya? so let's see, we're up to how much now, 2g's or so now? and what about the "rest of the story"? how's everything else? the electrical, the suspension, the subframe? it would really suck a fat one to put all of this kinda money into a big steamin pile o crap...if it's really what you want then go for it, it may turn out to be great and if you go for it i really hope it does, but just be careful and when you go to look at it go over it with a fine tooth comb. happy hunting
Misunderstood...
No, no... You've misunderstood what I posted... I was going to buy the car I talked about, for a parts car. To help fix up *MY* '87....
I didn't go look at it, as I have no where to store it even if I bought it... I thought I would've, but what I had fell through... So I guess what I'd hope to hear now... Is...
How much should I expect to pay for a "Parts" Car....?
