Putting in a Gauge Pod

I want to add gauges to my '86 Camaro 2.8. I would like to hang them from the bottom of the middle AC vents. Is it ez to take out the vent louvers? If so, once out can I put in bolt that wil hold the gauge housing in and then replace the louvers. It seems like a good place to put gauges.

Hmmmm, I can't remember exactly, but I think I had to remove the entire dash in order to get to that stuff without breaking it. Try it out and report back to us.

I hope Not. I remember somewhere here that there was a tech artical about tighting up a loose AC Vent. If I find that it may show how to take out the vent louvers.

i have a 86 z28 and when i took my vents out to paint them to match the cars paint, all i had to do was take a flat head screw driver and there is tabs on inside, just stick the screw driver in between the vent and the surrounding and pop it out...hope this helps your car is the same year as mine so it should be the same

Thanks Fast86...I looked at it last night and that's what I thought, I think it's a good spot to hang a gauge pod under the vents. Do you know whats behind the dash in the area of the vents. I would have to drill a hole and put the wires through.
