i was just at a junkyard today , there was an alright Trans Am there, no clue what year though, all i know is it was 3rd gen my cousin has a 89 RS with t-tops, but his t tops are scratched so he wants new ones... are they interchangeable?

also the taillights are in alright shape... the passenger side has kind of a deep scratch in it, but the driver side has a few small scratches ( none too deep i dont think) would i be able to take out the scratches? the guy said probably around $25 each for the tail lights... but maybe hell go less since they scratched?

also it has a trans am glove box envelope thing, whatever its called ... what do ya think that would be worth ? didnt ask him what he would charge me for it... it also had the roll up shade thing in it, ill have to make sure it works though...



one more thing, are hatches openable without the key ? from the inside or anything, it doesnt have the hatch release button thing they didnt get the key with the car, and it is filled with a lot of stuff so its hard to get to anything in the back.. it was a pain to get the t top bag off the clips, and it was very hot... but the bag was $10 , so i thought it was good deal ?

If they use the same mount, they should work. I've seen the kinda with pins, which is what I have, and the kind with these little flaps that fold out, and I've heard there is a kinda that uses hooks or something too.

If thats the same, it might just take a little adjusting. I know the pin style you can adjust the position of the holes they go into, I don't know much about the other kind.

Do you guys know if they made different size t-tops for pre 88 fbodys. I have a 91TA, my buddy has a 92, other buddy has a 88 and my dad has a 90, they are all the same. My other buddy has a 87 and he shattered one top all over the interior. We can't find a replacement cause nothin fits. His ttops are a good 2 inches shorter, front to back, than mine. Any ideas if his may have been aftermarket, or if they are dofferent from the factory. Any ideas where to get these things? Junkyards aint workin out. Thanks!

 

all factory t-tops are the same size to my knowledge, just different hook-ups..

Pin, hook, and there is a thicker pin that has plstic wraped around it.

 

i was at the local fbody yard here in the tulsa region & saw a 4th set of tops on the shelves.. they only had 3 sets of em verses the 40 of the other types... they had the plastic wrapped pi & were larger... as far as i know they were stock, but i cant be sure.... i wish they'd let me take a camera in there.. there were 4 of the 84 olymic cars back there....
