center console removal
center console removal
i have to pull the trans, so i have to remove the center console as well. but i cant seem to figure out how to take it out, i looked all over it....but i dont see any bolts holding it down. it sure is solid in there though....any help?

there is also a metal bracket in the bottom, you have to take out the two screws in the console storage bin, the one or two in the ash tray. The shiftplate/comer is also got can't think of what you call it but it snaps in place. Your shifter should have a little metal staple looking thing in the front bottom of the shifter ****. Pull this out. Lifte the shift plat out of the way, and there is a bracket in the bottom that has two, I think 10 mm bolts in it, That should get it off, that how I did mine. I pulled mine off to Re Glue the edges that was pulling apart, rubber cement yeaaaa.

You may also have to remove the handbrake grip. I also found it easiest to remove if you remove it half way, and then unbolt the handbrake lever from the floor...otherwise you'll be bending the console to get it off.
If you have power windows, don't forget to unplug the switches. Obvious I know, but it's easy to forget when you're removing something that big and cumbersome.
