aluminum console overlay pieces
I saw a pic of the new lincoln navigator in a mag the other day. They have a polished piece of nickel fixed to the console. I thought it looked very cool and wondered how it would look to cut and fit aluminum overlays on the shift-plate, ashtray and around the stereo/ac.
Make it look like an airplane cockpit.
Anyway, what would you all think about that idea?
Secondly, if I measured the dimensions and created paper templates, where could I take them to have the pieces cut EXACTLY to fit?
Any help would be great.

I actually like the look too but I dont think it would turn out good on a stock 3rd gen interior. There was a guy who posted a pic of this earlier (maybe try a search?) and I dont think it looked good at all. The stock 3rd gen interior is just too blocky. The thing that makes the aluminum overlays look good in the newer cars is that they match with the curvy lines of the interior. Also, remember if you dont have tint and park in the sun all day or something they can get very very hot (like a B&M Console Shifter Handle or a Billet SteeringWheel).

The link to the pictures is in the first post. Personally, I don't like it. But to each their own.

Thanks so much...crazy that something like that was actually made to fit in a third gen. That's the very first I've ever heard about it. I agree about it not looking to great, but I think it was aluminum overkill in that interior. Especially that long piece under the dash and on the gauge console. I don't know. I'm still considering just the 3 pieces I mentioned, just to sharpen up the interior a little with out killing it.
I'll do some interent searching and see what I can come up with.
