Hey everyone, my car needs a paint job, well its painted silver, no clear coat or anything on it, i was wondering if i have to prep it, or can i just paint over the original paint

 

If I was you I would re base coat then clear It aint all that much more work. if you rub your silver back to get clear to stick well it will flattens your metalics out & look crap. As well you probably have a few chips & marks that hve to be fixed anyway "do it once & do it well"
