my carpet is melted !!!
Yes the carpet under my passenger side seat is melted all the way down to bare metal, is it safe to assume that one of my 1 1/2 year old cats is clogged ? When i put hand over the exhaust pipe exit the air on the drivers side is hot, and the pasenger side pipe is cold, almost like it's sucking in air. And another thing, when i start my car, all this black **** comes out the pipes on both sides and stains the ground, it does not smell like gas, more like water but not too sure, any ideas about this one guys ??? the black stuff only started happening after my engine swap, then again maybe the old motor wasnt getting propper combustion, and filled the exhaust pipes with lots of black carbon, could that be the reason for the black stuff ? or is somthing terribly wrong ?

If you have stock exhaust on your car without the dual cat setup, both tail pipes come out of the same mufler.
[edit] ok you have true dual w/ just cats
You may have bent your cat up to the floor, and or knocked the heat sheild off. I have a habbit of hitting my cat on things ie speed bumps. pull the pipe off the cat(engine side, and see how it runs ie splattering black smoke out of the end of the pipe. If it is you may have some suit build up, dirve it around the block, get on it a few times to blow it out(w/o the exhaust hooked up) Be Careful don't get a ticket, if you get pulled over play dumb on the exhaust. If after that you are still getting black smoke, you may be running rich, either computer or sensor if fuel injected or carb. I can also be bad timming, especially on a V6 or 4 cyl. You may have a slipping timming belt, or chain that is streached, throwing off your timming if so get fixed asap, if it goes, it can mess up your whole engine. You may also have bad valve seats/seals.
You should also check your spark plugs for predetination, over heating etc look at the back of a hays man.
Check the timming belt/chain depending on engine you have before getting on the gas hard, you dont want a blown engine :-(
while driving w the cat disconnected make sure to tie it up where it doesn't fall and break it on the road.
Water should give your white smoke
rich blackish
oil blue
The black carbon sounds like it is running rich and with the timeing off.
