Hi, I just ran a G-tech on my car to find out it's horsepower, but I don't think I put the correct weight in. What is an estimate of how much a V8 1984 Z28 would way? th-350 trans, fiberglass hood, and stock other than that. thanks

 

Same year Firebird with an automatic and 305 V8 weighed in at 3145. subtract about a hundred pounds for the different hood and you are probably looking at 3000 to 3050 pounds. Hope that helps.

 

I don't know what they made YOUR hood out of, but a 'glass hood saves between 30-50 lbs depending on the type... not quite 100.

Man, our hood struts would last about a week if that was true.

 

Hood struts??? You mean the prop i put to hold my hatch and hood up??

 

ROFLMAO, hood prop, so true... I have an 82 with a 350/th350 combo and I weighed it at a weigh station the other day.. It was 1500kg which is about 3300 pounds with no one in the car, absolutly no stereo, fiber hood, full interior with sound deadener, 1/4 tank of gas and a half full tank of nitrous.. No frame connectors or roll cage.. The gutting starts this winter..

The weight posted is out of a Firebird Book. SO I know it is right. I guess I was way off on the difference between a steel hood and a fiberglass one . My mistake. So I suppose around 3100 pounds would be a better guess, a guess that is still more beneficial to this post than some other comments.
