Painting the underside of a fiberglass hood

Has anyone done this? I am in the middle of painting the engine bay and i figured i might as well paint the hood too. Is there a certain way i should do it being that it is fiberglass or no? I would sand it down first, put on primer, fine sand it, spray it with the paint, and then spray with clear coat. Does anyone have any suggestions, thanks.

The cowl hood on my 86 Camaro was from Unlimited Products. They finish the underside smooth except for a square in the very center, which looked like chopped fiberglass. I painted the underside to match the car, and then sprayed flat black undercoating on the part that was unfinished. It turned out really nice and ended up looking kinda like the factory hood liner.
