84 Berlinetta auto shifter **** removal

I have searched here, manuals and cd's. How do you remove the automatic shifter **** from shifter? I see no clip or screw as other 3rd gens have. I will also accept more tips for air removal and elimination of non essential wires.
I am transforming 84 ttop into 435 hp. toy.

in my 83 berlinetta you have to pop out the button then inside there is one of those wierd circular clippie things that you have to get a screwdriver in there and mess with to get out. once thats out it pops right off. but i have no idea if this would work for your car or not... good luck
