Paint Gun Tips
Paint Gun Tips
I am really getting into refinishing and I would like to know what kind of tips you guys who have experiance with automovtive refinshing skills might have to share. I will soon be painting my Convertible and it will be getting a New Canvas Top....oh the glory
Just to make it easy and just an overall good job, i will take the fenders, hood, trunk lid, tonneau cover, ground effects, nose to the either the booth at poly tech or at the shop where i work and I will spray them indiviualy(spelling). Then I will bring in the car and finish off the doors and 1/4s. again in a booth. I want to use the same color as JIM85 IROCs Trans Am....Lexus Crystal Pearl White I think it is called...
just take your time. Do many light coats, not a few heavy ones. If you just "mist" the paint on every coat, then you'll have less of a chance of the paint running. Make sure you keep the gun 8-12 inches from the body and make long, even strokes. Don't paint some areas with the gun close, and others with it far away. If you do that it will come out uneven. Make sure to let the paint flash in between coats and i'm not sure what kind of paint you're using, but you may need to wet-sand in between coats. just take your time. Have fun!
