Window can't be aligned, help!
I have this 92 Formula that recently experienced a power window failure. I didn't want to mess with it, so I just took it in. The first place I took it to replaced the motor, but never could align it correctly. You closed the door, and the window overlaped the seal, and water got in. So they readjusted it, and then it underlaped the seal, having the same affect. The only way to fix it was to get in the car, close the door, then cycle the window. Finally, I took it to the dealer, and they fixed it a little better, but it still overlaps the seal somewhat. You have to cycle the window to get a good fit, but only when stopped. Otherwise, the air flow around the car sucks the window out causing it to overlap when closed. What could be wrong? It worked fine until a couple of weeks ago.
Maybe the door hinges are worn? My window doesn't line up perfectly because the hinges are F-ed up.
Maybe they didn't mount the motor straight?
I had mine apart before and there is a stopper on the track that you put in there so that the roller doesn't go past a certain point. Maybe that is not in there?
Just some ideas. . . :lala:

I believe there's a tech article addressing window alignment.

I replaced all the rubber (doors and windows) on my 85 hardtop with no difficulties with alignment. Oddly enough, however, after the addition of SFCs, the driver's side window would 'blow out' at highway speeds. I experimented a bit--in my case, by pulling the window in at the top--and the fix was complete.
