Loose Hatch

I have a '89 GTA with a 5.7L. When I close the hatch, it locks, but it is very loose (as in I can lift it up 1/2 and inch or so). I was wondering what I should do to fix this problem. Thanks ALOT for your help!!!
P.S.-It is a power hatch

Your hatch pull-down unit is broken. Or more to the specifics, the motor housing (plastic) has cracked where the 3 screws mount it to the metal frame of the unit. I sell new GM motor housing that have been reinforced in this area with 4 pieces of aluminum and epoxy. I also stock all the other parts you may need to repair it. I also sell re-manufactures and re-built units as well that have a warranty. E-mail me for a Price List. I'd direct you to my web page, but we are in the process of moving it to a new server.
