Door Panel screws/hood release
Door Panel screws/hood release
Anyone know an easy way to get stripped door panel screws out(around the power lock/window). Dont want to destroy anything if possible. And an easy way to get the hood open if the release latch inside wont work. I think it came loose or something. Dont know how.
Thanks for your help.

for the stripped torx try ramming an allen wrench in there if that doesnt work try needle nose pliers around the sides for the hood thing ya need to replcae the cable but grab hold of the wire with some vise grips and pull until ya replace the cable

Some of those 'screws' are plastic and have only cosmetic value. Try a magnet to locate the real ones. After you get the hood open, lubricate.

Drive slowly down the street while pulling the hood release, it'll usually open to the first catch.
When you get it open, you'll see that the cable has a stop clamped on the end, and that is what contacts the release arm on the latch itself. After time, the cable stretches and no longer fullu releases the latch. Put a lead fishing weight or something between the original stop and the latch release arm to take up some slack and the cable should work again. Now lubricate everything with white lithium, and stretch the coiled spring on the hood, and you should be good to go.

Seriously though..get a friend, pull the release have you friend tap on the center of the hood right above the release, also get him to try to gently lift on the hood at the same time. Once ope lube everything up real good and ope and close the hood about 7-10 times to ensure you got it lubed up well. Maybe I should re-phrase that:
Drive slowly for a short distance, even in the yard or driveway, preferrably on a surface that will cause the body to flex just a little, while pulling the release, and the hood should pop open to the catch. Then you can return to where you want to do the work, finish opening the hood, and do the work.
Better now?
