Home made Car Anti-Theft Systems

Sorry for double posting,

But lets see what people came up with, and does it work>?

One my buddies, he has a 79 Cutlass, he pulls the whole fuse box everytime he leaves the car parked.

A little cumbersome thought...

hehehe

I have a little hidden switch spliced into my clutch safety switch wires. Its all clean and if a theif went to hot wire the car they wouldnt even know it was there.

I don't think most people who do something like this are going to tell about it on the internet. Once something gets out and everyone starts doing it, it becomes popular and theifs know to look for it. Then it doesn't do you much good.

If you want some general ideas I think a switch on the fuel pump wire would be pretty good, thing about switches is finding a place to put them that is easy to get to but at the same time hidden. I have the switch for my alarm wired in behind the foglight switch blank. It is really easy to just pop it off, and I dont think most thiefs would think to check behind it...

If you wanted to go with overkill then here's a few idea's

Nothing is gonna stop em from getting your car if they really want it, but most of the times if they cant just get right in and get it started they find another one.

Wire your horn to the door jam switchs (place a hidden cut off switch somewhere under you car, so you can dis arm it to get in your self w/o the horm blowing)

Ing. cut off switch wired from coil/dist. to a toggel and hide it some where

Do the same with your fuel pump if you have an elec. pump

Maybe wire up a starter kill switch to something like your dome light, power window switch, etc. This will help most of all. If they pop the ing. lock and try to start it with a screwdriver and it does nothing, they sure aint gonna be cuttin an interior light on, or tryin to roll down the windows or something like that..

The ideas are almost un ending. Just your your mind and think what would an ******* tryin to steal your car do and not do. Then hook up kill switchs to the things they wouldnt do.

Here's one I thought of just typeing this. Push to crank buttom, but useing your horn buttom in the middle of the steerting wheel as the starter button.

Anyone ever see that anti-theft system that some guy in Africa put on his BMW? someone tries to get in and they get a huge fireball out the side of the car? lol, i can't get enough of that

I think the best way to do an anti theft system is to just have a hidden momentary switch (i think) under the dash that you have to hold down while you are turning the key. I've heard of them before and they seem to work well

What my friend did is he rigged up a switch to his cigarette lighter. So when you want to start the car you have to press the cigarette lighter in 2 times, because it will turn the fuel pump on. And everyone knows ... a motor will not crank over without fuel!

Pretty trick idea I think.

I've got the simple answer to that. If the pros are going to do it, I've got a 7mm sitting in my room that will go right through the cab of the truck, the driver, the floor pan, transmission, and still put a big *** hole in the ground. They may get it partially up on the truck, but it's not getting further than that.

CraZ,
I agree with you. But the more I think about it, their family, or even the state, would probably press charges for man slaughter or murder of some sort. I would try and start blowing holes in the truck, but not try and kill them. You got a scope on that 7mm? Shoot at the tires, the engine compartment would be good. Almost bound to hit something there. I think if I had bullets blowing holes in a vehicle I was in, I would either run like hel|, or get the vehicle going. They won't get far with holes in the engine.

One of the coolest ideas I've seen is to install an ignition kill switcg in the cigarette lighter, push the lighter in you go, push the lighter in again...no go.
Very discreet, very effective.

I always thought about taking a standard switch that was factory on a car, but the car that I had did not have the option... wire it up so the car would only start with that switch on, and it would be perfect... For example a driving lamp switch on a base firebird or Camaro without one...

It would be too obvious and no one would try it, unless they knew your car.

Yeah I know, I was just talking smack. I wouldn't shot them, at least until they picked up the weapon I threw to them. I'm a light sleeper so I doubt anybody is going to get my car without be knowing about it. We also have police patrol units drive through all the time.

I'm not to worried, I got my car in a garage on a fenced in property besides my pit tends to make people think twice. But I like switch idea, I think putting a switch on the parking brake button would be a good idea, that way you would have to hold the button down to start the car. Also I found that if you shave the handles and locks, most dumb idiots can figure how to open the door.

A friends Grandpa told us that he used to put power to his door handles so that anyone who grabbed it and didn't know got a nice little shock, nothing to dangerous, but it would get your attention...
