90-92 Firebird steering wheel, same as Lotus???

I'm probably not the first to notice this, but anybody know why the 90-92 Firebird steering wheel is the exact same one that comes in a Lotus? The only difference is the fact that the 90-92 steering wheel says "Pontiac" while the Lotus says, "Lotus" (of course). I somehow decided to look at some Lotuses on ebay and realized they had the same steering wheel. Check it out:

Scroll down and click on the pic that shows the steering wheel.

Weird how the Firebird used that wheel starting in '90 while a 2000 Lotus uses it also...

I'm guessing that if you want the car you're building to have a driver side airbag, there's a limited amount of designing you could economically do. Perhaps there's a reason the '90-'92 steering wheels cost $400, airbag not included to replace.
