I pulled it off and sanded it down to where it was smooth. I went to Wal Mart and got some of those mailbox letters. I measured them out and stuck them on there. I bought some of the black auto spray paint from Wal Mart also. I sprayed about 4 or 5 coats on there, enough so no light could shine through. Then I pulled the letters off and sprayed a few coats of clear coat on it. I ran that for a while and decided that I didn't like "FORMULA" being red, so I had a lil bit of NiteShades left over and I sprayed about 3 coats over it, enough to kill the red. Still shines fine when the brakes are applied.

Hey Afor89mula, did you use the same black over the light and the lettering or is the black over the light different than the black you went over the lettering with? That looks awesome, I'm gonna have to do it when it gets nice out to my 89 Camaro RS, but im gonna do it in gunmetal
.
. The main part is just black auto spray paint that I got at wal mart. After I pulled the mailbox letters off, the "FORMULA" was red. I then used some NiteShades (which you can get through www.summitracing.com) and went over it...it looks as black at the regular spray paint until you hit the brakes. I also used that Niteshades and blacked out all of my turn signals and did several coats on my tail lights to make them darker.

i looks to me like not all the letters are lighting up did you try and look for the LED lights that i was talking about earlier? those should brighten it up so all the letters show when the brake light is ingauged.

I think if you painted the inside of the lens then it would look normal, but then you would need to put the letters backwards and have the sticky side on the front of the letter you know what i mean. Not sure if this would work but thats all i can think of right now

I just got a 92 RS and it has the 3rd brake light in the top of the back window. Has any one tried this mod on this? I am thinking of putting it like this...

Would that look ok?
I have 20% tinted widows btw
