Door replacement

Hi all, I will be buying back my 83 Daytona TA from the guy that I sold it to less than a year ago. The car now has some damage the biggest part is that it rolled backwards and if it had not caught the open drivers door on a small tree would have had a nasty fall. The door is toast and will need to be replaced, I know on a 2nd gen the hinges unbolt from the body. How difficult is it to replace the door on a 3rd gen?

Thanks,
TA76

BTW-I posted an ad in the "Parts Wanted" section if anyone knows where I can find some 82-84 TA parts.

Its not that hard. There are two brackets that you can reach from the outside. It may be hard reaching one or two, but it's pretty straight forward. Other then that, just a wire harness and your finished. Ive been through this, and am still working on it, so feel free to email me if you have any questions.

Removed the wiring harness from inside the door PROPERLY. Do not cut the harness!!! Unclip everything and slide it out the hole in the front. Remove the kick panel inside. That should give you access to the 15mm bolts on the lower hinge. For the upper hinge, I would recommend a ratcheting wrench and an assortment of different length sockets and a couple of different ratchets (they are 13mm?) They come out from the bodyside. There is a bolt behind the upper hinge that is a real PITA to get to. Before you remove the last few bolts, support the door with a jack and jackstand. I doubt Hercules could do it without one - these doors are HEAVY! I highly recommend replacing the lower hinge pin and bushings on the new door BEFORE installation. Putting the door back on is pretty much the reverse of the install. I installed and aligned my door alone, but I suggest you get another person to help if at all possible. I did mine in about 90 minutes never doing one before. Nearly 30 minutes of that was aligning it.

EDIT: The hinges are WELDED to the doors, so don't try to attempt to remove them from the door.

Even if you do cut the wires theres only like four wires for the power windows and locks.
