Do you think I should do a 4th gen interior swap
I have an 84 Firrebird SE its was a fromer 2.8 and im puting a 350 in and a th350 trans in and the swap should be complete in a month or so i still need to complete the motor. I bought the car for $100 back in october of 02 and the interor was shot, no engine a brand new 700r4 for a 2.8 and some body damage. Im going to drive the car on the street if i can put a nice interor reasonably. How much would it cost to do 4 gen dash gages and door panels and new carpet. I plan to put racing seats and a 8 pt cage in it because its going to be a 1/4 mile drag car do you think i should do an interor in it or just trailer it to the track. Also since im only 16 (soon to be 17) i dont make a ton of cash but because of where i work i have a connection with the junkyards around here. How much would it cost and how hard would it be.
HMM, sounds like you're having a hard time deciding what to do with your car. My opinion is that if you're going track only don't waste your money on 4th gen parts. Take what-ever is in there now and get rid of it too. Bare-Bones. tach, gas gage, 8pt cage, racing seat!
It will take some money to get the 4th gen dash gauges to work in your car. along with the door panels. It would not be worth it for the track.

So do you think i should just go find another one for the street and have one for the street and one for the track?? I could probaly get another camaro or firebird fith a bad motor and tranny for a coulpe hundred bucks and have another project for when this one gets done??

Dotn do it unless your willign to make it look/fit right. But since your car is goign to be a drag car, why would you want the dash in thier for?

you can probably get some 3rd gen. seats from the junkyard cheaper, and if you're mainly just gonna race it, that should be fine.
If you have the cash for the parts, time the to do it, and you want a refreshing new look to your interior, I think the 4th gen swap is the best bang for the buck. Track or Street, it dosnt matter to me, I hate the stock 3rd gen interior. It just looks old and boring to me. I plan to do 4th gen interior swaps on both my street and my track car. As for cost, you'll have to check locally. It depends on where you're at. I live in Hawaii where these things are rare to find (and overpriced if you do), so I got my stuff from the Mainland US, cost me $600 for the dash, doors, center console, and guages all in perfect condition. Believe it or not, cheaper than what I was quoted locally (hows that for a rip off). Other people have gotten way better deals than that. For info on how hard it is, do a search. There is ALOT of info out there on the boards.
