My underbody is rusted and before it gets so bad that It looses integrety I would like to repair it.

I have a pneumatic dye grinder and I was going to use a wire wheel to remove all the rust. What would be best to coat it after that?

The car is no longer driven in the snow. Rarely in the rain.

Thanks,
Chris

por15 is great stuff

brushes on easy and doesn't even leave brush strokes. you just really have to clean the underbody which could be a major chore.

my vote goes to por15

I second the notion for the por 15. I would use the wire wheel on the entire bottom and coat it as well. Kill two birds with one stone.

just don't go down to bare metal.......it doesn't adhere as well then. just be sure to get off the majority of the heavy rust and coat away.

I thought for POR-15 all you had to do was remove loose rust and then just paint it, Paint Over Rust....POR...see...i dunno if that is what it stands for. But that was my guess.

i you dont want to spend the money on the por 15, i did my engine bay not to long ago with the rustoleum oil based paint that came in a gallon for 15 bucks. i did 2 layers and it is thick. i tried scratching the stuff a week later and it took a good amount of force to scratch it off. i heard the por 15way is rock hard. but i figured if a rock flew into there with as much force as i can push then i will worry.

I have used and like POR-15. But in my opinion it will be a b----h
to cover large areas with a brush with the three steps that are required. Small areas are OK...

I will most likely do it in stages. One area for when I take the trans out . Another part when I take the rear out. I already bought the POR-15, I was just having second thoughts. But you guys have eased my mind.
