reupholstery question

I have seen numerous posts in which people have swapped out their seats for 4th gen seats, or aftermarket seats, or whatnot. My question is: Does anybody know how much (ballpark figure) it would be to have the origional seats reupholstered? What I eventually want to go is have the interior redone with dark grey leather seats and door panels, light grey carpet and headliner, keeping the stock door handles, dashpad, and other "plastic" stuff.

All depends on the shops you take it to.

I put a set of Trans Am seats in my Z28 and the driver seat needed re-upholstered.... I took to the best shop I knew and they actually re-made the seat cover. That is a $400 seat I sit in....

But it depends on the shop. I took mine to a shop known for HIGH quality (and big price tag)....

It will be expensive and if you want original fabric, note! its is not available. That why you see so many 4th Gen seat swaps. Now I did same after a estimate for $300 to repair one seat (not reupholstery it).

Standard shop time to recover a high back bucket seat is 8 hours, for the pair of bucket seats 12 hours. I'm not sure how much for the rears, maybe another 8? Maybe not. But it all depends on the shop and how many hours they want to charge you and how much they charge per hour. Here are my seats, I recovered them myself.

I have the "Deluxe cloth" seats on my '89 Iroc. To have them done from scratch, ( to look like original) I was quoted $1200, from the best shop in town. I've seen some custom work and it was fantastic.

I ordered the seat "covers" from Hawk's for about $480, and that included door panels. While mine are not yet installed ( that's another story) I've seen them installed on my buddy's TA. I'm not able to pick out the minor differences on Firebirds, but I wouldn't have known they weren't from the factory. My covers are not quite 100% correct, material wise, but they do look almost factory. Anyone short of you guys here wouldn't know the difference. My friend also had his seats re-padded, and they were every bit as supportive as 4th gen seats. I was quoted $275 to install the covers and re-pad the seats. That brings the total to just under $775, and that's installed, re-padded, and new door panels.

Well worth the price of admission.

Yeah, Hawks sells some covers that, if done right, look dang good. Also, for what it;s worth. Seats from a 95-99 Maxima fit great in our thirgens. You could easily find a set of grey leather ones I'm sure. I had a 98 Maxima with leather seats and they kicked a$$.
